Fomblin® PFPE oil delivers dependable lubrication even in highly challenging environments. Thanks to its chemically inert molecular structure, the lubricant remains remarkably stable under thermal stress, oxidation, and exposure to reactive substances. This stability significantly extends lubricant service life, reducing the need for frequent relubrication and helping minimize maintenance costs and unexpected equipment downtime.
Compared with many conventional oils, Fomblin® offers a unique combination of high thermal resistance, non-flammability, chemical compatibility, and consistent performance over a broad temperature range. The lubricant also provides excellent dielectric properties, strong low-temperature fluidity, and a high to very high viscosity index for stable lubrication performance in both low and elevated temperatures.
Available in multiple viscosity grades, Fomblin® PFPE oils are designed to perform reliably in temperatures ranging –80°C to +290°C, making them ideal for both cryogenic and high-heat industrial applications.
Reliable and Safe for Oxygen Service Applications
For systems operating with oxygen, Fomblin® PFPE oil offers exceptional safety and performance. The lubricant is highly resistant to both liquid and gaseous oxygen, even under elevated pressures and temperatures. It remains chemically stable under demanding oxygen exposure and does not react under impact or sudden pressure changes.
Fomblin® PFPE oils have also been certified by the BAM Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing, confirming their suitability for oxygen service applications.
Beyond oxygen systems, Fomblin® is widely used in processes involving aggressive chemicals because of its outstanding chemical inertness. It is compatible with many fluorinated media and dissolves in several fluorinated liquids, including CO₂. This makes Fomblin® particularly effective as a sealing barrier fluid in chemically reactive processing systems.
Because it contains only carbon, oxygen, and fluorine, Fomblin® contains no hydrogen and is inherently nonflammable. Even in oxygen-rich environments, the lubricant remains stable without combustion risk. Combined with its non-toxic properties, this makes Fomblin® an excellent choice for demanding industrial applications where safety and reliability are critical.
Excellent Compatibility with Metals, Plastics, and Elastomers
Fomblin® PFPE oil offers broad material compatibility, making it suitable for a wide range of industrial components and sealing systems. It performs well with many commonly used engineering plastics, elastomers, and rubber materials, including PVC, ABS, fluorosilicone, and various specialty sealing materials.
The lubricant is also compatible with a wide range of metals such as stainless steel, titanium alloys, and high-performance alloy steels. Its naturally low surface tension allows excellent wetting of metal surfaces, helping create a consistent lubricating film and improved surface protection.
Because Fomblin® is chemically inert, it does not cause corrosion or unwanted reactions—even under low-temperature operating conditions.
Fomblin® is fully compatible with fluorinated heat-transfer and specialty fluids such as Galden SV. However, it is generally not miscible with mineral oils or conventional synthetic lubricants, making proper lubricant selection important when switching other lubricant systems.
